Sunday 7th October saw the 1st kick about of Gaelic football and it was a tremendous success! Sunday 14th October saw an even bigger turnout of players – 38 in all and the standard is way above expectations. All up we have over 80 players who have registered interest and the list is growing. However, we do need more players, especially women! Please come along ladies and enjoy the fun. Tasmania was the only State not to have Gaelic football. We thought we should do something about that so a group of dedicated and enthusiastic people got together and it is now up and running. The game has captured the imagination of Tasmanians! The Mercury, Southern Cross TV and Win TV have taken a big interest in the game and, after 3 weeks of play, we have had two articles in the Mercury and have been on the Sports news on TV 3 times. So it definitely looks like Tasmania has a new football code. A Gaelic Football Club from Melbourne, (St Kevin’s), have organised a trip to Hobart on 17/18 November (a ladies and a men’s team).
